I suppose I thought since Melody was young and impressionable and had never regenerated before, she just got inspiration/influenced from her surroundings.

Whenever I think about how River Song emerged from two really white people, Amy and Rory, I’m like: So, I’m wondering…Do you think young, white-skinned Melody regenerated into darker skinned Mels & River because when young Melody was dying, she saw a man with darker skin in that alley… What do you guys think?
